SOAP Bible Study

Peace & Blessings Beloved,

TGBTG for allowing us to see another day. I pray all is well with you and yours, and that your week has been fruitful & blessed thus far.

We kicked off this year by setting the table for what we plan to accomplish over the next calendar- and that's through ensuring that each of us is a member of the body of Christ. Once we've made our election sure, the next step is to become as intimate with God as we possibly can. And in order to do that successfully we need not look any further than God's word.

And so, it is in that spirit that I want to share with you a useful method of studying the Bible. This technique that has provided me with great benefit, in my daily pursuit of holiness. The method is called SOAP, which stands for scripture, observation, application, & prayer. It’s pretty straightforward, but I’ll expound briefly. You start with a scripture (you can gradually move/alternate between terms/verses, passages, chapters, stories, books, themes), then write down any observations you make (context, author, audience, theme, literary style, repetition, etc), then think of ways to apply it to your own life. Make it personal, be honest & vulnerable. Finally, conclude with a prayer that covers what you learn and moves you to action.

See below, and attached for reference.

Our next lesson will cover a method of creating a prayer that covers every base God requires and invites us to, when we communicate with Him.

God be praised for your life. May He continue to shape & mold you into what He called you to be!

Love you much.

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Blessed!

-Humble Servant

P.S- If you have not given your life to Jesus Christ, I implore you to take the time to do so right now. Use John 3:16 & Romans 10:9-10 as a foundation for making your confession of faith. And use Ephesians 2:1-10 to provide proper context for your salvation.
